After your Procedure

We will provide you with any necessary medications, gauze, and post-op instructions. We will set up a follow-up visit 2 weeks later to check on healing.

We want your healing to go smoothly, so please refer to these helpful tips:

  • Get some rest and limit strenuous activity for 3 days

  • Ice the outside of your face in the area for 20 minutes on and off for the first 24 hours

  • Rinse with warm salt water rinses 3x/day, especially after meals, after the first 24 hours

  • Warm salt water rinse is 8oz warm water and 1 teaspoon salt

  • Soft, balanced diet for 2 weeks: Smoothies, yogurt, soups, mashed potatoes, eggs, fish, noodles, ice cream, fruit juice, cottage cheese, etc.
  • Avoid crunchy, hard foods, especially in surgical area for 2 weeks

  • Yoga, walking, light running, and other mild to moderate exercise is OK after first few days, within your comfort level

  • Use prescriptions as directed

  • For discomfort, we recommend 400-600mg ibuprofen every 6 hours. This is usually sufficient to keep most patients comfortable. If this is not enough, 500-1000mg tylenol can be taken in addition to ibuprofen

  • Please call Dr. Brancheau on his direct number given to you at your surgical appointment with any concerns or questions after hours, he will be more than happy to help!
